"Psychics" kick out at Derren Brown's "Miracles for Sale"

Posted by leavingbethel on May 3, 2011 at 3:11 AM

There has been a lot of negative feedback from those in the "psychic" circles about the "Miracles for Sale" TV show that was aird on the 25th April on Channel Four.

One such "Psychic", Angie Kruger has really pushed the boat out and had her say...

"Re Derren Brown's, *Faith Healing* show - Sigh - didn't think much of the Derren Brown Fiasco. He & his team spent more time deceiving innocent people than the *Douches* they were targeting. & his crowd at the end? 16 if they were lucky. Sad, bitter, twisted little man who's ashamed of his own sexuality. The rest of his team were just as arrogent & self satisfied. NOT a fan of any of it. - but that's just me."

We at LB are amazed at this response and after out meeting in Lincolnshire yesterday, we wish to respond to these remarks made by Angie and other such "pyschics"

"We at Leaving Bethel are very driven to investigate and expose all who attempt to use "spirituality" to mislead and take money from others. The response made by these "psychics" only lead us to believe that they felt threatened by the show as maybe they too have something to hide as this programme was exposing the techniques used by the faith healing movement, a movement that is totally opposed to psychics. We would like to inform Angie and her fellow "psychics" that they have now been added to our list of belief systems to investingate and if relevant, expose in the future. We also want to acknowledge that real psychics do exist, people who do have the ability too see and hear beyond the veil. You know who you are and you have nothing to fear from us, but for those who are using false psychic, medium, clairevoyant abilites to make a fast buck...be afraid, be very afraid.

Also we must make it clear to Angie and her fellow distractors that a tremendous amount of work, went into this show and we went up against a system that did not want to give up it's secrets. It was a complete success as even if only "16" showed, Nathan successfully created the effect that has fooled millions. You do not need hundreds or thousands to re-create this effect"

We are in the process of asigning specialist researchers to cover a number of these areas that are open to spiritual and financial abuse and will be having sections on this site to deal with them individually.

Thanks for the support and kind words from those who did see the programme for a positive viewpoint and thanks once again to Derren Brown for "starting the ball rolling" with his espose on the techniques used by these pentecostal charlatans.

i have to agree that ithought the show was exellent in the way it exposed the fraudulent way things happen we as a show try and do th e same thing,
i will however state that I have worked alongside Angie now since the show started and never have i seen a more genuine and guided person her work is phenominal and with out doubt in my opinion the best i have ever seen , I agree she speaks her mind but is that such a wrong thing, i think not , i will back her to the hilt,
but as is aid you did a great job inn there back yard so to speak and i agree wholeheartedly that fakes and frauds in whatever part of the paranormal fields must be
named and shamed

Hi Woody.

I understand you will be on this weeks show of Haunted Cornwall?

Loved the show! Have you thought of taking those and many other techniques and getting them on Youtube if they go viral it will do some good PR. :-)

Anyway, I have an article due for publication in the morning which links here and quotes your article, let me know if you want something adding. :-)

I thought the DB special was superb in that once again it highlighted the 'scams' perpetrated by the likes of Peter Popov et al.

Using 'deception' to expose 'deception', OK I take Angies point there but the issue is about the thousands who are defrauded by cold hearted and manipulative spiritual practices.

Derren is picking up the mantle of Houdini, James Randi, Penn and Teller and others who engageg in EDU-TAINMENT... I think magicians do have perspective that is worth considering in this field as they often 'duplicate' the effects that some of the money-making scoundrels claim as being real and 'from spirit' or 'from God'.

Having said that there are many "intuitives" and "spiritual folks" who are working in honurable ways with honest intent - perhaps the question about the reality of the claims made by these people is mute as they do and are provding a useful service to those in need. I think the moment any of these folk become 'celebraties' there is a danger of them 'crossing some kind of ethical line' and turn into performers whose epxress purpose is to make (lots) of money.

Noting John's comment above - yeap I know Angie and I think the ad homenim attack on Derren was not necessarily reflective of her ability to discuss these issues. I have found that Angie has been more than 'willing to play' when it comes to experimentation and indeed has undertaken an 'experiment' with me the results of which are being processed at the moment. This for me, more than hints at her sincerity.

FYI - I am the Rational Mystic on Haunted Cornwall FM and The Real Twilight Zone. A member of the ASSAP, professional magician and speaker on psychological/parapsychological topics.

Really interested in how this site develops and how the suggested investigations into fraudulent practices continues.
